Hello Big Girl Bed!

Here it is!  Zoe's big girl bed!!  She's so happy to have a new bed! (And she loves posing on it too!)
Zoe helped pick out her new bedding, she loves the flowers!

Have I ever mentioned that I hate bed skirts? (See above for aforementioned bedskirt.) In fact, I loathe them.  I hate washing them.  I hate ironing them.  They always fold in when you make the bed.  They never quite fit the bed after washing (no matter how gentle you wash it.)  I can't wait to find a new headboard & rails or platform bed so I can get rid of that stupid bedskirt hiding the plain old frame.

Look how little she looks...my little baby.

Hey Daddy, this bed isn't big enough for both of us!

Watch this little video for a very important lesson about Zoe's bed...

Requiem for a crib

I never thought that taking down the crib would make me so sad.  I don't know if it's because Zoe is growing up so fast or recalling all the wonderful memories I have of Zoe in connection with this crib.

Like awaiting Zoe's arrival...

or the first picture I have of Zoe in her crib at 1 month old...

or remembering how little Zoe looked in her crib...

or catching the moment when she found her thumb for the first time...

or watching her get stuck in the corner because she couldn't roll over...

and then watch her practice rolling over...

and finding her in some weird sleeping positions like sleeping butt-up...

or cuddling the crib bumper...

or letting appendages escape...

or hugging mama's bear...

or having a place to play...

or a place to practice standing...

And remembering that there was a time when we thought we could move her into a toddler/big girl bed.  So, we took off the front rail and put her to bed...

And then found her here in the middle of the night.  Poor thing.

And recently requiring Lightning McQueen slippers to sleep in...

And then capturing Zoe's last night in her crib...

All such wonderful memories.  But I think what mostly makes me sad is that I won't have another baby to put to sleep in that crib.

Goodbye crib.

Let's paint!

Sunday, February 15th...
Daddy takes apart the crib with his trusty helper by his side.

Brian just loves cutting in the edges!

Zoe couldn't wait to paint...she always wants to help.  So she got her own roller and away she went!

Yes, we painted the walls the same color - the walls just needed a fresh coat.

Zoe is a very neat painter...she only got a little paint on her fingers and that was it.  No spills, no mess.

Brian and Zoe were doing such a good job, they didn't need me to help.  I just supervised.

Up and down, up and down.

Then it was time for Zoe's nap but she didn't have a room to sleep in. So I set up comfy blankets and pillows in the princess tent to have a "campout."  She started off in her tent curled up all cute and cozy.  But I guess she got a little restless.  When I checked on her later, the tent was all turned around and falling down with her legs out the side door...

all wrapped up in her blankie...

how does she breathe like this??

Poor thing - all tuckered out from painting!

Our Valentine's Day 2009...

We finally got around to getting Zoe a "big girl" bed.  Okay, three years is enough time in a crib...she's just too big.  But Zoe loved her crib.  She never, ever tried to climb out and she loved jumping in the crib!  After spending the day looking for mattresses, we gave Zoe her Valentine...
She was mesmerized by the light...

and I found Zoe hiding in her tent trying to eat all of her M & M's...
We then were off to Target & Costco and bought her new bedding and mattress set.  There we were sitting outside at the Costco with mattress in tow eating hot dogs for Valentine's Day dinner...oh, how romantic.  I even got to pick out my own flowers at Costco...will the romance ever end?

I think Zoe enjoyed the bedding the best...who taught her to play sack races in pillowcases??
Then we started the prep work to paint Zoe's room (it needed a fresh coat of paint - so this seemed like the perfect time to do it.)
Zoe helped taping too...
The last climb up into the crib...
I love this crib!

Well not the most romantic of Valentine's Days...but full of love and laughter just the same!

Happy (belated) Valentine's Day!!

Happy Valentine's Day 2006...

Happy Valentine's Day 2007...

Happy Valentine's Day 2008...

and Happy Valentine's Day 2009!

Hope it was a love-ly one!

Playdate

Oh, what do we do when it's about 60 degrees (brrr) in CA with a slight chance of rain??  We have an indoor playdate at Bright Child, of course!!

Zoe and her bud, Kyle, spent the afternoon together sometimes...

and apart sometimes...

Kyle is definitely a lot more adventurous than Zoe.
Kyle immediately climbed his way to the 3rd story...
While Zoe barely left the toddler playroom...

Zoe loved playing the piano...

and watching the fish swim...

She played a little golf...
To heck with this, just put it in the hole!
The highest I got Zoe to go was a low level 2 to climb through a purple tunnel.  Of course I had to go too...those plastic tubes are a little hard on the knees!!  You can see here, she wasn't so sure about climbing up...
The voice from above said that it was popcorn time...how sad it was when it was for some other little kid's party...
Overall, Zoe, did you have fun??

It was too noisy!!
